Pastoral Care at Magdalene Catholic High School is the care that grows out of our shared respect of the dignity of the human person. It is at the centre of our learning relationships and characterises our school as a place which gives witness to God’s love. It is our intention that we will create structures and strategies which will enable all members of our community to "have life and have it to the full" (John 10:10) through the development, nurturing and empowerment of the whole person.
The community of Magdalene Catholic High School models our Pastoral Care policy and our actions on our school motto "Because I have seen the Lord". This vision of our Lord informs our actions and policies in that it gives direction and meaning to all that we do. Because we have seen the Lord we aim to:
- Have a respect for God, self, others and the environment.
- Provide witness to Gospel values by dealing with others with respect, justice, fairness, compassion and forgiveness.
- Share in Christ's mission to care for those in need.
- Foster a sense of a community which supports all of its members in all of their endeavours be they academic, sporting, social, spiritual or cultural.
Magdalene Catholic High School is a safe school.
We have been working with our students and their families to produce a new anti-bullying policy. It is available here. The process we will follow in the event of an allegation of bullying is described in this flowchart.
The Catholic Education Office has produced some excellent resources to support us in this very important task. You can read about their anti-bullying strategy here .
